Fix iPhone Home Button Not Working Problem Solved

First, clean the Home button and your finger with a dry cloth—debris or dirt could be obstructing recognition. If that doesn't work, try recalibrating the Home button by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button and checking that the “Calibrate Button” is turned on. Once it is, press and hold down the Home button for a few seconds. This should fix the problem. If neither of these work, restart your iPhone as this can often solve software-related issues.

If your iPhone isn't responding to your commands, you may need to update the software. To do this, open the Settings app, tap on General, then Software Update. If there is an update obtainable, select Download and then Install the update.

If updating your software doesn't help, it's likely that there's a problem with the hardware of your home button. In that case, you'll need to take your iPhone to an Apple Store or authorized service provider for repair or replacement.
